History of our Kindergarten

The Emmaus Kindergarten is a project to protect OVC ( -> Orphans and vulnerable children), means children, who don't have the chance of a normal and save life, because of financial and familiar reasons.

It is important for us to convey education, general knowledge and comfort to the children. A place for them to feel home. The Kindergarten  is a Project for the children under the age of  1-6 years  and youth of Karibib. We offer  Kindergarten as well as afternoon classes and other activities.

The kindergarten started in May 2002 with 13 kids. The aim was to offer supervision and education to Orphans and vulnerable children in the community whose parents are not able to pay the common kindergarten fees, and food for their children.

In the beginning there was just one teacher, doing the job for free under a tree, and than one volunteer teacher, Mactoline, come out to help her, and was looking for more children to take care of.  And little by little the number of kids has increased.

Later on Amanda Bouzenoune, trained and educated herself for teaching, resumed the Kindergarten and is from that on principal.

Up to 2013 we were just having one Kindergarten in Township. In January 2013 we opened a second Kindergarten in Town. We are very proud of our new town-kindergarten. Both inside and outside completion are heavenly for the kids: They have a lot of space, toys/climbing scaffolds, education material, good hygienic facilities and a very child-friendly, warm decoration.

One year later in January 2014 we closed the Kindergarten in Township because there is enough space for all the kids in the Town Kindergarten. Unfortunately at the end of 2017 the Kindergarten had to move from its old building to Amanda’s Home. However this situation is not ideal. That is why there is a new Kindergarten under construction, which is going to provide all the current missing aspects. The constructors predict the completion of the building at the end of April.
